But I didn't care for the love making scenes. Most lines of Harlequin novels have sex scenes, ranging from hinting at the deed to full on, TMI, decriptions. The Supperromance line usually is in between, but this particular book was a little too vulgar. Not that I am prudish, I don't mind reading love scenes-these were just poorly written and over the top. I also felt that Mayberry used profanity more often than necessary-it is one thing to toss a few in to illustrate personality or intensify a scene, but there were some scenes where she used "ass" three or four times at once for no real reason. But even with those two things, I still enjoyed the book enough to give it 4 stars so it couldn't have been *that* bad I guess. Days after reading this I'm still trying to decide how I feel about it. Because of the nature of the relationship between the two main characters - and the hero's ex-wife - the theme was darker than I expected. When the book ended I was satisfied with the resolution, but didn't have a warm fuzzy feeling. I picked up this book because of Ridley's review, which promised that I would finish it "wearing a big goofy grin." I was really in the mood for a big goofy grin and, indeed, HER BEST FRIEND supplied it. Mission accomplished. Thank you Sarah Mayberry, thank you Ridley, thank you Goodreads. I usually don't read category romances. I don't like how short they are. But the length is perfect for a book like this, a best-friends-to-lovers story that gives the H/h, Quin and Amy, just enough time to stumble towards the realization that they belong together without having the author introduce any stupid contrivances or dumb, unnecessary fights. This is a Goldilocks sort of story - just right. Not too big (it's quiet, small-town, domestic), not too small (Amy and Quin's feelings leap off the page, sweet and sharp), not a single unnecessary scene. Highly recommended. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
What's a girl to do when she's secretly in love with a friend and he's married to someone else? She gets over it. That's what Amy Parker has done. Rather than lose her best bud Quinn Whitfield with an ill-timed, crazy confession of affection, she's taken the smart route. She's eased away from him. Just enough to get past the unrequited bits. And you know, it's working. Until the day Quinn announces he's now single. That's right. He's single. And he wants to hang out. With her. Get reconnected the way they used to be. Oh, this is so not good for Amy's equilibrium. Daily doses of Quinn remind her of everything she loves about him. But if he's free...and she's free...well, maybe the time has come for one of those crazy confessions. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I couldn't help thinking about John Greenleaf Whittier's words: “of all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest are these, 'It might have been'.” ( )
