Really a great book. Aside from the Tavares biography, this is probably the best writing on Williams that's available for children. Very good book. ( )

This is a picture-book biography and one of my favorite picture books. It tells the story of Ted Williams when he hit .406 in the 1941 season and did not take the easy road in doing so. It came down to the last two games and he had achieved a .3995 for the season which rounded to .400 but that was not sufficient enough and he said if he was going to do something he was going to go all the way with it. He played the last two games risking the .400 batting season and he ended up getting hits to get him to .406. It teaches the lesson of not taking the easy road but if you want something you have to give 100% for it. ( )

No Easy Way was a great book because it detailed Ted Williams' season in which he hit .406, making him the last baseball player to ever hit over .400 for an entire season. The author, Fred Bowen, does a great job connecting Ted Williams' accomplishments with hard work, thus never giving up, which is the easy way. ( )

The author, Fred Bowen, does a great job connecting Ted Williams' accomplishments with hard work, thus never giving up, which is the easy way. I really enjoyed the illustrations by Charles S. Pyle, and I really liked the authentic photographs that were sprinkled in throughout the book. ( )
