In the first pages of the book a student in Cambridge,by the name of Olva Dune,murders another called Carfax. For the remainder of the book he is tormented by thoughts of being discovered and also by being followed at all times by God urging him to confess his crime. One of his friends finds a clue which could connect him with the murder and when he falls in love with this man's sister his anguish becomes more acute. He tells one of his fellow students of his crime and thus causes yet another soul to misery,as this person holds him in high esteem.
This is a story of its time and is not one that would be popular today as its theme and attitudes are completely outdated.That being said,it has a certain dated charm. ( )
