My pony is a story about a little girl who has always dreamed of having a pony of her own but her parents always say no because it is too expensive and they have no pasture to keep it in. She wishes so often and so strongly that she begins to dream and draw pictures about what she wants her pony to look and act like. Her drawings begin to come to life and she names her dream pony Silver. She continues to draw and they eventually ride off into the mountains and have a full day of adventure. Once she is finished drawing her pictures, she wakes up from her dream, kisses her parents goodnight, and goes to bed.

This book hits very close to home for me because both of my parents grew up around horses and cattle, therefore this was always something i wanted to experience. I was in a similar situation as her as my father was in the military and we were never in the same place for long. This being the case, we usually lives on post or rented homes where having large animals was not possible.

I personally believe that this book would be a good book to read to a class here in Oklahoma because many students could probably understand it well. There are many activities that could go along with this book such as coloring activities or word searches. Catching childrens attention and keeping it is a very important element of teaching and I believe i could use this book to do so in the classroom.

A beautifully illustrated story about a girl's need for a pony. To fill that desire, she invents a magnificent pony of her own and gives him a name as beautiful as he is. A must read for that little girl (or that little girl inside) that wants a pony or a horse of her own. The passion and longing ring true for every child who wanted that special friend of their own. (It did for me!) ( )

This is absolutely one of my favorite books from when I was younger. I have always loved animals, especially ponies. We always had horses and a pony when I was younger and still do. This book is about one girls love for a pony that she asks for everyday. Since her parents tell her no she decides to use her imitation to draw her dream pony silver to life. Once silver comes to life they go on a ride through the clouds and threw pretty trees where they see other ponies. When they return back home it is time for bed and she asks one last time for a pony and they say no, but silver is still waiting at the window for their next ride. ( )

One of my absolute favorite books as a young child, my pony makes me love horses even more each and every time I read it. I will never outgrow asking for a pony every year for Christmas. ( )
