Loved it. Jennifer Love Hewitt wrote in such a way, with humor and personal thoughts that it made the book hard to put down. When it was down, I couldn’t wait to pick it back up and see what else she had to say! ( )

This is a short read on a woman's perspective on dating. It has a follow on with a sample man's perspective on women with comments by the author. I found it interesting but superficial. The author appears honest but has no particular credentials to be an expert on the topic. Being an actress does not qualify for being an expert on dating. ( )

I'm not really sure what to think about this. Having finished it, I'm not entirely certain what it was really about. However, Love-Hewitt seems like she would be an interesting person to have dinner and drinks with to just chat and hang out. But I don't think that was supposed to be the point. She began writing the book when she was heartbroken, but kind of got over it and moved on while she was writing the book, so it lost some focus. Also, I got the strong feeling that she's never written a book before; a good editor could have helped tighten it up a bit. ( )

Review: I am not sure really how to review this book. If it was marketed as her "How I got over my recent engagement and got a dating manifesto", I could have probably gotten it more. I think JLH is sweet and charming. Those personality traits come across in several sections of the book but it seems to me she wrote this book for her exes and/or her girlfriends to read. She is never mean to them but it does give a bit of that look where I am now vibe. It is kind of like "The Rules" in simpler terms and some of the examples she uses are extreme (maybe not in her world but the world in general). As far people complaining about how a constant dater is writing the book, that I have less of a problem with. In fact, this to me is where the book seems genuine. You can only know the trenches if you are still there. Most people I know get the "dating wasn't so bad" glasses once they are out of the dating pool. The book itself is quirky, funny,a bit uneven at time, and a quick read. The part I disliked the most was the Jamie Kennedy section and that probably was colored by their dating history. I am just not sure the book was marketed correctly so my rating is based on "is it a good self-help book for daters". So I ranked it 2 for the genre it was marketed too and probably a 3.5 if you pick it up for a fun read. ( )

Self-proclaimed Love-aholic, Jennifer Love Hewitt, has penned this adorable little book for all you girls looking for love in all the wrong places. In its pages you'll find all sorts of advice from what to wear on a first to what not to eat or drink while you're on it. How to wait for him to call. How to not be overly needy. Feeling worthless. When to snuggle like "velcro" and then act all nonchalant about it. It is a tell-all book about all the "do's" and "don'ts" in relationships... or lack thereof. Her stories were insightful, witty, and humorous that not only give you a glimpse into some of her relationship woes but can also be helpful in avoiding some of those same painful and/or embarrassing scenarios.

Although I'm one of the lucky one's who has been married for years and considers herself to be in happy, healthy relationship with her "hubs", I can definitely appreciate a book like this. I loved the cutesy graphics, the short chapters and the bullet-point areas all told in a spunky, yet honest voice. My favorite part, Jamie Kennedy's cameo - definitely makes a girl feel good about herself and puts a big smile on your face.

This was a sweet little book that can be read in a couple of hours tops, but definitely not to be taken as light reading material as there are many lessons to be learned scattered throughout. Jennifer Love Hewitt has outdone herself in my book with her amazing love guru-ness skills. She definitely knows what she's talking about and I'm hopeful we'll hear more from her in the future. ( )
