A group of animals sit around sharing different tales about how the zebra became striped. Cute ( ) There is a big debate in the African jungle, Professor Linus Pinstripe is asking all the animals how the zebra got its stripes. The animals have very varying answers too, the giraffe thinks that the Wise Baboon gave the all black zebras white pant and the all white zebras black paint, the ostrich thinks that the all white zebra painted himself with black stripes when he saw his shredded shadow, and so on. The book concludes by saying that no one really knows how the zebra got its stripes-or why. This is a fun and silly read for young children, it also has simple facts about zebras in the back of the book. I liked the story, How the Zebra Got its Stripes, by Justine and Ron Fontes. The big idea in this story is the zebra and the many tales about how it got it stripes. The author uses humorous stories told by animals to engage the reader. The animals in the book take turns telling their version of how the zebra became striped. The giraffe said that the zebras used black and white striped paint. While the ostrich said that the zebra tore its shadow after running away from a leopard. The “shredded shadow” was then worn by the zebra. The author poses a question to the reader at the end of the book, “How do you think the zebra got its stripes?” The author also includes fun facts at the end of the book. The zebras can move around together to confuse a lion. The lion preys on the zebra, but the stripes help the zebra survive. The lion sees only stripes and not the zebra. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
