As the days darken, I read my students lots of books about darkness and especially about children countenancing fear. In "Dark Night," not surprisingly, in a forest at night, a cartoonish child finds himself frightened at the sound of an owl whereupon the child retreats into a hollow in a nearby tree. The owl is scared off by a wolf which is then scared off by a tiger ("'That tiger looks ferocious!' Felix thought.") and so on, until Felix backs into a door that leads down to the warmth of a rabbit's kitchen. The rabbit and a scary disguise help Felix to emerge bravely from the tree and to finally turn the tables on the fearsome creatures. The two new, emboldened friends then celebrate with a rousing cup of hot cocoa. ‘Dark Night’ is written and illustrated by Dorothee de Monfreid. In this picture book a little boy lost in the woods is frightened from pursuing his way home by monsters and takes shelter inside a tree, where he meets someone who helps him overcome his fears to make it to his house. The novel is simple enough that it can be used to help teach a child in a simple way what settings, story and characters are. Dark Night is a scary story about a young boy who is lost in the woods. He becomes scared of all the creatures in the forests. He discovered a secret door that leads to s rabbits house. They return into the forest together in a scary disguise to shoo away all other scary monsters. This book can show students to be confident and not be afraid of the dark. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
