While construction work is being done on her new home, Mrs. Pargeter accompanies a friend to a fat farm called Mind over Fatty Matter. Mrs. Pargeter, who never takes exercise or diets and is perfectly comfortable in her 60-year-old zaftig body, is intrigued that the joint is run by Ankle-Deep Arkwright, an old colleague of the late Mr. Pargeter. When dead bodies start appearing on the premises, Mrs. P feels compelled to investigate. Brett’s satirical intent is more obvious than usual here. Cozy fun. 3.5 stars. ( )

This series is not the most suspenseful nor literary in the genre, but a nice cozy (Arrrrg, I can't believe I said that), that tends to light entertainment.

In this book Mrs. Pargeter and a friend go to a "Spa" (Fat Farm) run by one of her late husbands "co-workers", for a full treatment. Mrs. Pargeter is "allergic" to spa food so instead the gourmet chef makes sure her treatment includes gourmet dinners, desserts & wines. One night while surreptitiously going back to her room, she comes across two ambulance men removing the emaciated body of a young girl......from there the chase begins. ( )

This book was entertaining and a light read. There wasn't as much humor to it as 'Mrs. Pargeter's Point of Honor", but there was a good mystery in it.

Mrs Pargeter goes to Corfu with her long time acquaintance, Joyce. Joyce has given Mrs Pargeter a package to carry for her....Upon arriving at their destination Joyce looks as if she has seen a ghost......and the next morning Joyce is found dead (in their shared villa) an apparent suicide.

Mrs. Pargeter with the help of her deceased husband's business partners solve the crime.....but not before Mrs. Pargeter finds herself in a literal bind.
