Eric Chalmers is one of the most popular teachers at Muirpark Secondary School in Glasgow. Gentle and kind, he is the person the students come to when they want to confide in someone. So when precocious teenager Julie Donaldson accuses Chalmers of rape, the school goes into shock. How could a deeply religious family man like Chalmers do anything like that? With some students and teachers supporting Julie, and others standing by Chalmers, life at Muirpark is far from harmonious. And then things get much worse - Julie Donaldson goes missing, and the police are called in. For DCI William Lorimer, this is the second missing persons case in a week. He's been having sleepless nights about a toddler who has been missing for several days - with each day, the likelihood of her being found alive diminishes. Julie's disappearance adds a further burden to Lorimer's already overstretched workload. With hope fading, it becomes a breakneck race against time to find both missing girls.… (altro)

I love the DCI Lorimer series. I've read books four to six and should start reading the first three books in the series next.
DCI Lorimer has to find a serial killer. But he only realizes this over time that the murder of a student of his wife was only the last of a series. Of course, people are first suspected by the school. Only when he receives only a few hours to investigate, before he has to hand over the case, he finds the culprit. In addition to finding the murderer, he also has to enlighten the disappearance of a little girl.
[[Alex Gray]] writes exciting thrillers with a lot of psychological background. That is also the reason that DCI Lorimer's friend is a psychologist and whose life partner is Lorimer's pathologist. The team is successful in solving cases. ( )

I was very excited to read this book. There were so many good reviews about this and I was really looking forward to a good mystery novel. It had been a couple of weeks since I had read a good novel and I wanted to really dig into a good novel.

I was given a good mystery novel. Ms. Gray had me guessing till the end of the novel. She had me thinking it was one of the main characters with in the novel. She did a great job of distracting you from the real person.

I do have to put that I felt the story was rather slow. I didn’t feel the excitement building in the book whatsoever. There was no build up within the book for either case that was presented within the book. I was looking for that build up and never got it. I felt that there should of been maybe a bit between DCI Lomier and his wife.

It was a good book. Just a bit slow for my taste, if you like a milder book than one that is just jam packed with action and nail biting paging turning action than that is the book here for you. I just happen to like a bit more action in my books.

****I was given a copy of this book for my honest review**** ( )

I don't know why I bothered - in fact, I wish I hadn't! I should have known what to expect when I noticed that the publisher's blurb on the back cover described Glasgow as Scotland's capital. ( )

Serial killer on the loose, DCI Lorimer and his wife become personally involved. Plot could have been better developed in terms of the culprit! ( )

An enjoyable crime novel. Lots of intrigue and no clue who did it until the very end. A few good red herrings. I was a bit confused about what happened when the killer was caught but generally very good. Got me into the mood to read more crime fiction now. ( )
