This is much more than the typical baby name book. Yes, it gives you the meaning and origin of each name. But it also provides the stereotype, or "image," associated with the name. (Plus, it has a list of famous people with that name, who often have contributed to the image.)

The two flaws with this book are (1) the fact that — my copy at least — was published over 17 years ago, so the image and "famous people" lists can grow dated, and (2) because of the stereotypes, the book does not have enough room to list as many names as other name books do.

Despite these problems, this is not only a useful addition book, it's entertaining as well. ( )
