E' particolarmente vero per questo romanzo, chiamato in italiano "giochi di prestigio" proprio per sottolineare la natura illusoria di quel che ci viene mostrato. Niente è come sembra e spetterà alla dolce ma implacabile Miss Marple smascherare le illusioni per arrivare alla verità , muovendosi in un'atmosfera artificiosa e vagamente eccentrica. I personaggi sono ben caratterizzati anche se lievemente stereotipati, ma è normale in un libro in cui il focus non è l'introspezione ma la soluzione del mistero; la scrittura invece è scorrevole ed incisiva, ogni parola attentamente pesata e calibrata.
Insomma l'ennesimo gioellino uscito dalla penna di Dame Agatha, che consiglio ad occhi chiusi a qualunque amante del giallo. ( )
