This is an adorable tale within a tale of two competing narrators, a boy and a girl, who use their imagination to take turns storytelling as they relay the adventures of a princess whose precious ponies have been stolen by a giant who wants to make them into a stew. The male narrator clashes with the female character's vision for the story as he introduces the hero: Cool Motorcycle Dude who at first seems out of place in the story and conflicts with the whole vibe. The book is full of humor relating to gender differences in children as the two collaborate and compromise their two perspectives until they end up with a coherent story they are both happy with in the end. The story is cleverly written with three different illustrators to convey the story within the story and the two different minds coming together. ( )

This book offers multiple perspective by the characters, and conflict between the two characters in this story within a story. The book challenges the traditional style of writing, in the way the character in the book interact, and share the telling of their own stories. This book would make a good pair for "The Three Little Pigs by David Wiesner.
Books like this disrupt the status quo in writing and offer students an opportunity to draw inferences as to the plot twists, and how the narraters will tell their story. This unique style of writing lends itself to critical discussion, and discourse about what is happening in the story. It is a fun break from traditional books. ( )

Summary: This book follows the story of two young boys who make a fairytale based on things other than fantasies like Cinderella or romance. They destroy gender roles and make the story completely different than what it should be. They talk about motorcycles and being stolen by ogres and many other things.
Reflection: I think this story is very humorous and fun. It is a nice little story to have in the classroom. I think it would be great to have for the children to enjoy. It keeps the children's attention and always has different plot twists. ( )

When two children cannot decide on what kind of story to collaborate on together. The illustrations and changing of the story that happens throughout the entire book is something that I have never seen done before. I think this would be a nice entertainment book to have for students to give them some fun and down time. This book can also be use for a start of a project to get kids motivated to write their own stories down and be creative in their art work alongside their tale.

A boy and girl write a story together, has multiple curves and changes for what the original story would have been. I'd have this in my classroom as the begining of a writing prompt and I think it be an interesting way to introduce it.
