This book is written by an author that's familiar to me. She does a good job of describing many food items, and the illustrations compliment her words. One of my favorite things about the book is that she shows us the food pyramid. Many kids don't eat balanced meals. I have some that eat donuts and drink Coke! This book wasn't really my style, but I know most kids would enjoy this book. I would recommend it for kids that go to the supermarket with their parents, as well as kids that have never been to the supermarket. This book is very informational. ( )

A very informative and interesting book about what makes a Supermarket super. It explains how a supermarket runs, where the food comes from and hard how it is to keep the store clean and organized. The book is very colorful and the pictures on the pages are full of facts about a supermarket. It actually has taught me a lot of things I didn't know and I'm sure for a kid this will be very informative. For example, I learned that the most popular fruit bought in a supermarket is a banana, followed by apples. Also, the first supermarket opened was in 1859. Another fact given in the book is the average wait in line is 8 minutes. Finally, I learned that Americans spend more than $440 BILLION dollars a year at supermarkets. This is just a few of the facts given in the book and I believe this book would be very interesting to young kids. They probably go to the store weekly with their parents and they would love to learn the interesting facts abut it. Very great book. ( )

Kathleen Krull does a very appealing thing with her book Supermarket. In her book, there is not only a wide variety of colors and and eye-catching pictures to educate kids and adults about the supermarket. She incorporates the food pyramid, farming, supermarket etiquette, recycling, and even the process of how everything gets to the supermarket. She uses beautiful pictures and makes learning about the supermarket fun. There are little "fun facts" on almost every page. The "fun facts" are questions kids, and everyone has probably asked themselves. Very entertaining and I think it would appeal to kids. ( )

This is a book with nice text and illustrations about supermarkets. Before supermarkets existed, there were free markets that sold grocery items like fruit, vegetables, and household baking supplies. With supermarkets, people go right ahead and buy what they need from the store. Supermarkets are more complex and are wider. There are so many high, medium, and low ranking employees there. I would definitely read this story in a Social studies class for Pre- K though third grade about the history of supermarkets. ( )

A very interesting story about a supermarket and the process that is needed to get the food to the store. Shows how the supermarket came about and how it has changed from then. Many different interesting facts about the supermarket. Gives children a deeper look at going into a supermarket and being able to understand their surroundings a lot more. ( )
