An utterly forgettable and nearly contentless series of essays about various types of monsters. Each chapter follows the same structure--first, the monster mystery; next, the scientific explanation; finally, the weaknesses of the scientific explanation and platitudes about how we'll never really know for sure.

This is the same kind of pseudoscientific stuff that has clogged the History Channel, Science Channel, Discovery Channel, and others with all sorts of paranormal exploration and ghost hunting shows. They have no real content, and no purpose other than titillating the reader with the possibility of the existence of monsters.

Recommendation: For light reading only, if that. ( )
