It contained five incredibly well-written short stories, including, In Camera, Beelzebub, Blind Bill, (my favorite one of the collection), Charle Ferber and Henry Marlborough.
Each story was delightfully intriguing and insightfully wonderful. The endings seemed to focus on the deep truths that lie within each of us.
Because I recently read Shriley Jackson's book We Have Always Lived in the Castle, I found Westall had a similar type of writing style, one wherein the reader is quietly drawn into the story step by step until you realize that you might be a bit afraid of what is found at the top of the landing.
While the stories were not necessarily of the horror/gothic genre, there were enough simple twists and turns that the book had a science fiction type of feel about it.
This book was a joy to read and I highly recommend it. ( )
