Most of us have the sense that there is something greater within our minds than the conscious parts that we have access to. Many of us, at one point or another in our lives, have had premonitions or flashes of insight into events in our futures. These insights often seem to be random, and out of our control. What imagine what it would be like it you could access these hidden abilities at will. The author explaines that with practice, study and discipline, many of us can become a medium and learn to bridge the gap between the Known and the Unknown. He tells you how to create the proper conditions for mediumship, what to expect and how to handle spiritistic phenomena as they occur. He shows you how to banish fear and how to utilize your subconscious mind effectively; he discusses the Spirit World and its inhabitants, the Three Laws of Success, psychometry, the human aura, telepathy, dreams, automatic writing, crystal-gazing, prophecy, reincarnation, meditation and astral projection. These and many other related subjects are full examined and explained in this intriguing and challenging book by one of the foremost pioneers in psychic research.… (altro)

from Amazon.com: Putting his many years of research into a single volume, Hereward Carrington presents readers with a self-help guide for increasing their psychic abilities. Everyone who has experienced psychic phenomena, he says, wants to know how they can develop such powers on their own. And in this book, first published in 1920, he gives them their answers. As the path of development differs for each kind of medium, he has provided instruction on a variety of abilities, including automatic writing and clairvoyance. Serious students of the paranormal as well as those interested purely for entertainment value will find this book a helpful reference. British investigator of psychic phenomenon HEREWARD CARRINGTON (1880-1958) was a member of the Society for Psychical Research and wrote many books on the paranormal. Despite many of his most convincing cases being shown to be frauds, he continued to study claims of psychic power and established a research society in the United States in 1921. Some of his most famous works include Eusapia Paladino and Her Phenomena (1909) and Psychical Phenomena and the War (1918).
