Group Captain Gavin Gallagher, har gjort karriere indenfor luftvåbnet og er blevet chef for raketbasen, hvor atombevæbnede Zeus-raketter er opstillet. En aften tager han fra basen og hjem til sin kone. De bor meget tæt på basen, men han kommer aldrig frem.
