Detective Rowen O'Connor never expected that the man who broke her heart, Evan Hunter, would come back into her life, he had disappeared so thoroughly. However he's back and he's involved with the murder she's investigating and the two of them have to work together and have to work at being partners. Evan disappeared because his life changed almost completely and he is finding it hard to cope with the change. He's also not prepared for how Rowen makes him feel.

Both characters are well drawn and interesting and I enjoyed the read. ( )
