Cute story. Easy read for young readers, and has a great message. I would read this to my elementary school class. ( )

I enjoy reading stories by the author Anthony Browne. This story is about a young boy describing in different ways how amazing his dad is to him. He talks about many great characteristics his dad has. The illustrations matches every description perfectly of how he views his dad. For example, when it is said the dad is as wise as an owl, the dads body is all there but his head is that of an owl. This book can be read on Father's Day for kids that want to show appreciation for their father's or father figures. The theme of this story is family. ( )

This book does a wonderful job at capturing how a child views their father. I love how the illustrations keep the pattern of the dad's robe throughout each page! ( )

This sweet picture-book tribute to fathers is narrated by a young child who describes his own dad, and all of his many amazing qualities. "He's all right, my dad," the text begins, going on to list this one father's many feats - he can jump over the moon, and wrestle giants - and other appealing characteristics. The story concludes with a declaration of love for dad, on the narrator's part, and a corresponding statement that his dad loves him...

Originally published in the UK in 2000, and here in the USA shortly thereafter, My Dad is celebrated British author/artist Anthony Browne's answer to the classic reassurance tale. The narrator's dad, and by extension, all fathers, appear here as strong and protective figures in the young child's life, always ready to participate in any fun, and always ready to step in should anything - like the Big, Bad Wolf! - threaten. The artwork, done in watercolor I believe, is quite appealing, with many humorous scenes depicting the father as various animals and other figures. All in all, a heartwarming book, one I would recommend to anyone looking for children's stories about fathers, or reassurance tales in general. ( )

I really enjoyed reading this book. One of the reasons I enjoyed reading this book was because it was very relatable to me. The narrator talks about his dad and all the fun things they do like how they play catch or go to the park. It reminded me of my father at home and all the fun things we use to do when I was young. In addition, I really enjoyed looking at the pictures that the illustrator came up with. I think the pictures were very unique in the way that they were drawn. It kept me wanting to read more, as well as helped me remain engaged while I read the story. Overall, the message of the book is that a father is a figure that most people look up to and cherish.
