This book starts with a relevant anecdote: a forecast predicting an inch or two of snow in DC, which then got clobbered with eight inches. "The weather forecast was wrong. And people were not prepared....Weather forecasts tell us what kind of weather is coming. But predicting the weather is hard to do." DeWitt then proceeds to explain cold fronts, warm fronts, and the kinds of tools meteorologists use to help them measure and predict the weather: thermometers, wind vanes, anemometers, hygrometers, barometers, and more; there is also an example of a weather map. No back matter, but very informative. What will the weather be? This book explains how weather is predicted and all that is involved in it. It also tells which types of clothing should be worn for the different weather types. I did not care for this book. It was a little boring. The illustrations are very colorful and eye catching that younger childred will enjoy. It takes place outside and shows how the weather changes. The tone is fun and warm. I would have the children go outside to see if it was windy, sunny, or cold. Then make a chart out of what they felt and saw. I would also have them predict what the weather will be like for the next few days. I would also have them make a collage of their favorite weather. I liked this book because it was an educational story about weather. This book was one that told a story and provided information as well. The story starts out with two children watching the weather and then it goes to explain the different weather patterns and devices used to measure weather. I found this book very interesting and educational to read. This was a nonfiction book that described all of the different diagrams, charts and devices used by weather people. This book was very engaging to readers because it told a story along with providing facts to the reader. I thought that the illustrations played a huge role in the book as well because the author would tell you what something was called and tell you all about it and then provide a picture of the device. I think the main idea of this story was to educate children on weather and the different aspects of weather. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
