The rescue party finds Christopher Robin who, despite being British and living with them in England, wishes them a Happy Fourth of July. It seems he failed to inform them about the fireworks and, even worse, excluded them from an private viewing to which he has invited only Kanga and Roo. Is Christopher Robin playing he's on a date with Kanga? Bizarre.
Side note: I find it annoying that this book's credits say it is "Adapted by Isabel Gaines" but doesn't indicate from what it is being adapted. I'm pretty sure Milne never mentioned the Fourth of July, nor any of the cartoons. And it's hard to imagine a foreign publisher making a book about a British bear celebrating an American holiday. If anyone knows the original source, I'd love to know.
(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
