The Art of Influence was a very quick read. I saw this book in the Non-Fiction section of new releases, and it seemed interesting enough. I'm always up to figuring out how to better myself and a small hardcover like this seemed like it would come to me right when I needed it. The Four Golden Rules of Influence discussed in the book:

Live a life of undivided integrity

Always Demonstrate a Positive Attitude

Consider Other People's Interests As More Important Than Your Own

Don't Settle For Anything Less Than Excellence

are indeed excellent words of advice.

Chris Widener's story-telling style of writing is gripping and entertaining. This is a quick yet powerful read, but nothing short of a page turner. I found myself stepping in and out of different characters' shoes without worrying about ruining my experience. Each element of the story functions as a lesson that requires looking beyond the cover. An elegant story that explains the difference between influence and persuasion. Widener explains how influence requires character, backed by effort and good relationships. Given the short time it takes to read, I would recommend this to anyone. ( )
