"Tiananmen Diary" tells the story of the Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989, told from the point of view of a young sociology teacher, Lun Zhang. This graphic novel comprehensively not only covers what happened in 1989 that ended in so much bloodshed, but also offered the background knowledge needed to understand its context. 5293. Tiananmen Diary Thirteen Days in June, by Harrison E. Salisbury (read 15 Jul 2015) This is a 1989 book and tells of the 13 days Salisbury spent in China in 1989. He was in a hotel overlooking the Square but did not see much, though he heard the shooting. He does not know how many people were massacred but has scorn for the official account of the event. He blames it on Deng being willing that it occurred, but did not know that the massacre would lead to Deng's losing the power he had. It is an interesting account, though now only of historical interest. This is a book written by a news man that was in China at the time of the massacre. He was staying at a hotel very close and had to dodge bullets and see wounded and dead people for the days that this occurred. An interesting outside look at what was seen on the fringes and the confusion and craziness that progressed. A very good read. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
