I disliked this book for the lack of relatiablity. As a girl and as someone who has not had to experience a parent’s unemployment I was unable to relate to this novel. I did however enjoy the fact that some of the writing was written in the formation that geese take when flying to help relate the boy’s connection to help the wounded goose to the books appearance. When Wills dad loses his job at the Port of Baltimore the family moves to Pennsylvania. While living with his Grandfather, Will and his father grow apart. His Grandfather suggest going hunting and Will eagerly tags along. When he finally comes to terms with the ability to possibly kill a Canadian Goose, Will learns the true test of his abilities when the kill isn’t clean and he decides to nurse the goose back to health. Priscilla touches on the importance of love, family and caring for one another in the face of hardships as her big ideas. ( )
