#2 Black Ops. Sam's story. The BOI's are still tracking nefarious criminals and this time it's the international arms dealer, drug trafficker, thieving, killer Nader who has been on the BOI's radar. Tragedy strikes Sam's family and he sets his sights on Abbie, who's brother is working for Nader. Using her for information that she may or may not have has Sam falling for her. Trying to get to the bottom of the investigation has them traveling to Honduras with revenge and death on the mind. All of the BOI's use their cunning & skills to take down Nader & other entities at play. Sam & Abbie fight their attraction for each other and try not to get killed. Meanwhile, Abbie's loyal friend Crystal who spars with BOI Johnny Duane Reed takes a secondary story for a spin off for the next book in the series ( )

Take No Prisoners
4 Stars

Former Black Ops Inc. operative, Sam Lang, will go to any lengths to avenge the death of his sister even if it means using an innocent woman to do so. Abby Hughes is wary of men and has no time for romance between working as a blackjack dealer, taking night classes, and looking out for her younger brother. Nevertheless, Sam is able to get past Abby's defenses but will his secret agenda ruin any chance they might have at a future.

Gerard once again delivers on the action and suspense, and the romance has its moments despite the hero's questionable behavior.

While Sam's motivations are understandable and his suspicions of Abby's activities are warranted under the circumstances, his deceitful manipulation of Abby and her feelings does not present him in a good light. It is particularly annoying that he sleeps with her before revealing the truth.

Thankfully, the keeping secrets trope is kept to a minimum and the relationship improves once all is revealed. Abby is an appealing heroine, and the fact that she stands up to Sam and calls him on his actions makes her even more likable. It was fun watching her outsmart him a time or two.

The inclusion of the other BOIs (cute acronym) in the storyline is entertaining and the connection between Johnny Duane Reed and Abby's friend Crystal Debrowski has a great deal of potential. Looking forward to their book next. ( )

I'm officially in love with Cindy Gerard! Okay, maybe I'm ore in love with her series and her characters. I think I want to marry every single one of her male heroes, lol.

This second book was on par with the first, [b:Show No Mercy|2258548|Show No Mercy (Black Ops, #1)|Cindy Gerard|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255652485s/2258548.jpg|2264498], and so far it's two for two. This is Sam's story and it starts off with a bang. When Sam gets too close to his target, the German mad man Nader, he sends Sam a message to back off in the form of a car bomb that kills his sister and brother-in-law. Riddled with grief and guilt, Sam leaves Black Ops Inc. to take care of his family. When Reed shows up with information about Nader and his whereabouts, Sam can't resist going back one more time for the ultimate retribution. Their only trail leading to Nader is one of his low-level mules, Cory Hughes. Since Cory is somewhere in Honduras, they focus on Cory's sister, Abbie who they think is involved in her brother's shady dealings. Determined to get some answers about Cory's whereabouts, Sam woos her to get information out of her. He feels guilty about tricking her, and after a night of passion, he finds suspicious packages in her garage, all of them from Cory and all of them from Honduras. To Sam and his team, she appears to be guilty. When Abbie finally realizes she's been played, she's devastated, but she doesn't have time to dwell on that. She receives an email with a picture of her tortured brother and instructions that she's to give up information on the location of a stolen diamond necklace that Cory conveniently mailed back to the US.

Abbie turns the tables on Sam and his team. She holds the cards to get her brother back and for Sam to nail Nader to the wall. And so ensues the dangerous rescue operation.

I love Ms Gerard's series because she not only writes some seriously hot passion that can set the pages aflame, but the passion doesn't dominate the plot. I feel like she has a good bead on what Spec Ops entails and she's very descriptive. The male heroes are all larger than life, all of them deal with nightmares and demons as a result of their profession. So far this series has made me bite nails, cry, laugh and swoon. I can't wait to read the next one and do some more swooning. ( )

Good read in the "Black Ops" series. Sam Lang returns home when his sister is killed by his long time nemesis, Fredrick Nader. Abbie Hughes' brother Corey is mixed up in drug dealing in Honduras, the world that Nader occupies. Sam and Abbie end up joining forces to bring down Nader and save Corey. I enjoyed the book but found the romance between Sam and Abbie to be a bit lukewarm. ( )
