Another brilliant read.. i read this some time ago and have just re discovered it lurking on my book shelf.. a definate must read ( ) Another easy breezy read from Fforde, and another with characters firmly rooted in the upper classes. There's nothing like a bit of escapism though. The characters all grow showing that girl power is alive and well, but it is a shame that to triumph ultimately means needing men to help. I suppose we all dreamed of a knight in shining armour when we were little and watching Disney films, but now I'm a grown up I know we women don't need men to be a success, or indeed to help us out of sticky situations. It's a sweet holiday read but nothing that will challenge you at all! This is an ensemble story - three young women, all finding the courage to step outside their safety zones. Sarah is a wedding planner and her business is the frame upon which the stories hang - Elsa the shy seamstress, Bron the unappreciated hairdresser and jill of all trades. I enjoyed watching the way that their blossoming friendship gives each woman the courage to change their lives for the better - and find a little romance along the way, because after all this is a low key romance novel. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Sarah Stratford is a wedding planner hiding a rather inconvenient truth - she doesn't believe in love. Or not for herself, anyway. But as the confetti flutters away on the June breeze of yet another successful wedding she somehow finds herself agreeing to organise two more, on the same day and only two months away. Luckily Sarah has two tried and tested friends on hand to help her. Elsa, an accomplished dress designer who likes to keep a very low profile, and Bron, a multi-talented hairdresser who lives with her unreconstructed boyfriend and who'd like to go solo in more ways than one. As the big day draws near, all three women find that patience is definitely a virtue in the marriage game. And as all their working hours are spent preparing for the weddings of the year, they certainly haven't got any time to even think about love. Or have they?
