How to review a dictionary? This is well-known as an authoritative source. Includes a brief history of the Sioux since contact with European immigrants, a detailed description of the language and the alphabet used, and a grammar summary helps immensely in understanding sentence structure. Some of the entries have examples of the word used in a sentence--not all of which are translated. The English>Lakota section has word lists, but they are mixed in with the dictionary entries so it is difficult to find a particular list. For example, under Roots there is a list of word roots which can be combined with various prefixes and suffixes to create specific meanings. Under Time there is a list of the various divisions of time. Under House there are lists of kinds of houses, parts of a house, and words related to houses
