It was okei read. A bit dark and bloody. It showed what the Doctor hates about humans and it showed how some humas are so bad.
I lidtened to the audiobook at first and finished it quickly reading the book. The audiobook is narrated by the same actress who plays Jackie Tyler on the show, so sometimes it was hard to understand if it was Jackie speaking or narrator reading between the dialogue. But I really loved her narration. Every character sounded like they were supposed to sound. Hadn't heard that good Rose voice yet. Even David Tennant wasn't so good at Rose. That reminds me that we'll soon have Tenth Doctor radio plays with David Tennant, Billie Piper and Camille Coduri aka Jackie Tyler. It'll be amazing 😀
Actually what I loved about this book was how Doctor casually said that the TARDIS could find Rose even if he didn't know where she was, because the TARDIS had started to like Rose more than anyone ever. And my shipper heart just exploded. All those fanfics about the TARDIS and Rose communicating got it right. The TARDIS loves Rose and that's why she made Rose a Doctor clone. She wanted Rose to be happy and live old with the Doctor.
All that aside, I liked the bit where Doctor had to control Rose to get to the strong hold. He was so careful and apologetic and felt so guilty using her but at the same time he knew that she wouldn't be against it because people's lives are at risk and she was the only way to save them. Doctor knows that Rose would risk her life to save innocent people's lives and she'd argue him if he acted against his wishes.
I think that Jacqueline Rayner is the best writer for Doctor/Rose books because she gets their relationship right. She knows that these two are supposed to love each other and risk everything to save another and it shows in her stories. I have also read the Stone Rose by her and it was amazing. Just like reading a fanfiction. Only with less kissing 😀 ( )

One of the best NSA, more detailed and more 'adult' themed. ( )

Rose and Nine visit her mum and Mickey and discover that London has been swept with a hot new video game craze. In the game, the player is fighting on behalf of a porcupine-like species called the Quevvils against a praying mantis—like species called the Mantodeans. But this game doesn’t seem right. The game was launched with a scratch card contest that also offered prizes of vacations. People have won vacations, but they haven’t come back…

This was a really good story. In my experience, Rayner caught the tone and personalities of the main characters well, and the story was sufficiently compelling to keep me reading on. It didn’t hurt that the alien species were easy to imagine! And it is always nice to have more adventures involving Nine. ( )

"I thought I'd better call home," said Rose, wandering into the TARDIS's huge, vaulted control room and waving her phone at the Doctor.
