This book teaches kids about how sometimes secrets can be fun, but other times they can be hurtful. It also teaches kids about kindness, and how to be a true friend.

Pearl, a little bunny, and Wagner a mouse, are great friends. In the first chapter of the book, Pearl and Wagner's class visits an ice cream factory. While getting on the bus to go there, Lulu a duck tells Wagner a secret. This drives Pearl crazy. The entire way there and the whole time they're at the factory, Pearl continuously asks Wagner to tell her Lulu's secret. Wagner refuses and grows frustrated with Pearl for asking. Finally, Lulu tells Pearl that all she told Wagner was that she was having a birthday party next week. Upon Pearl realizing that she already knew the secret, the teacher announces that it's time to go. Being preoccupied with Lulu's secret causes the two to miss out on the entire ice cream experience.

The next week when the two are discussing Lulu's party at the amusement park, Wagner announces that he isn't going. After he makes every excuse in the book, Pearl finally discovers that Wagner isn't being truthful. He finally reveals his secret that he's afraid of roller coasters because they go to high, come down too fast and are way too loud. Pearl shows him that all of those things are not to be feared.

Finally, at the amusement park on the day of Lulu's party, Wagner becomes brave enough to ride the roller coaster. Pearl however, becomes fearful as they approach the ride. Wagner talks her into riding it and the two absolutely love it. Finally, for the birthday desert, they get to eat the ice cream that they missed out on earlier that week. They two poke fun at how their love for ice cream isn't a secret and ride the roller coaster again and again-until it's time to go home. ( )
