I love these book, but they do require full attention to keep track of the characters. Well developed, wonderful sense of place and a real page-turner. Good mystery, very engaging. I look forward to the next one. ( ) This was another good story with Ian Rutledge. The story starts with Ian accompanying his sister to a a house party where there’s a séance about to take place. He’s concerned that that his secret will be revealed and uses the excuse that the Scotland has called him in. On leaving the house he spots a rifle bullet casing on the doorstep and this haunts him throughout the story. His assignment is to go to Deven to find out who shot the local constable with a bow arrow. After he arrives, he soon gets involved in solving a cold case for two women who disappeared. Inspector Rutledge discovers machine gun shells left for him to find in various places as he investigates the shooting of a constable in a small village. Someone is stalking him, but he doesn't know if it is connected to the case he is working on. He is attracted to a Mrs. Channing, except that she communicates with spirits. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"Seamless in its storytelling and enthralling in its plotting." --Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel "Dark and remarkable....Once [Todd] grabs you, there's no putting the novel down." --Detroit Free Press The Winston-Salem Journal declares that, "like P. D. James and Ruth Rendell, Charles Todd writes novels that transcend genre." A Long Shadow proves that statement true beyond the shadow of a doubt. Once again featuring Todd's extraordinary protagonist, Scotland Yard investigator and shell-shocked World War One veteran, Inspector Ian Rutledge, A Long Shadow immerses readers in the sights and sounds of post-war Great Britain, as the damaged policeman pursues answers to a constable's slaying and the three-year-old mystery of a young girl's disappearance in a tiny Northamptonshire village. Read Todd's A Long Shadow and see why the Washington Post calls the Rutledge crime novels, "one of the best historical series being written today." Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
