*In my opinion* the book is weaker than it could be because of the focus on mostly American mammals or other large exciting critters. Ok, yes it is a picture-book for children, and yes Arnosky does admit that he couldn't fit in all his favorites and suggests we make our own model arks - but it's still frustrating. There are already *lots* of picture books that encourage respect for whales and bison - I believe that authors & librarians owe us books about the more obscure nodes in the ecological web - what about termites, and phytoplankton, and squids? ( )

This is a personal narritave book that makes connections with the authors relationship with the other animals. Goes over the importance of the earth, and the animals that are on it. Explains about animals that are in danger.

This book is good for all ages. ( )

This book can be used in all grades. It also has great illustration that kids will enjoy. ( )
