Fiction. Mystery. Lee Adams gives a serviceable narration of Henry's latest Alaska Mystery, featuring sled- dog driver Jessie Arnold, her state trooper boyfriend, Alex, and her clever friend, Maxie. It all starts when Jessie's sled runs over a body, which turns out to be that of a local young man who's been shot. Identifying his killer takes some time, surveillance, interviews, conjecture, and a high-action climax. Unfortunately, these are all delivered at the same pace. Adams's voice is clear and pleasant, and she does put some juice into conversations--but no real emotion. This makes for pleasant, if unexciting, listening. Some questions are left unanswered--no doubt for the next installment of this popular series. J.B.G. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine. HTML:

A brand new Jesse Arnold mystery from award-winning author Sue Henry.

Champion musher Jesse Arnold has been out of racing for a number of years, ever since she incurred a devastating knee injury. Now sheâ??s ready to get back in shape for this yearâ??s Iditarod. While taking her team on a practice run down a local trail she takes a snowy bump thatâ??s never been there before. It turns out to be a snow-shrouded body. Now, Jesse and her boyfriend, Alaska State Trooper Alex Jensen, are back chasing criminals. And the hunt is on for the killer of a supposed earthquake victim, who was actually murdered. The twelfth audiobook in this critically acclaimed series is sure to delight Sue Henryâ??s man… (altro)

Pretty exciting! Plot-wise, Jessie Arnold, Alaskan musher, is back in action. It's fall time and she can't quite get the dogs on the snow; but when she does, the sled runs over a dead guy. Investigation by her live in Alaska Trooper ensues. Maxie and her weiner dog show up and they solve the mystery. It's pretty obvious whodunit, 'cause she's missing for half the book and the repetition is glowing. Further, the "degrees of separation" must have been popular slang, 'cause it's used over and over and over. Alaska descriptions of culture and natural beauty abound. Fun read! ( )

I was happy to read another Jesse Arnold novel and enjoyed it very much. Jesse is preparing for another season of sled dog competition when she stumbles across a body. Trooper Alex Jensen is there to do the official crime solving, but Jesse, of course, can't keep from becoming involved. And it's an added treat that Maxie visits and helps out with her good common sense. However, I was surprised by the loose ends left in this one. ( )

The book was very readable, just not very interesting. ( )
