Desperately Seeking Salvage Mel Hargrove, eighties enthusiast, is the protector of much more than random cars and broken washing machines. Each piece in her precious junkyard has a ghost attached to it. When she finds naked statues of aging townspeople in the main square, she must figure out if something, or someone, is missing from her junkyard and out causing havoc. Don't Dream It's Rover When Mel's boyfriend, Becker, unintentionally brings a ghost she can't see or speak with to her junkyard, she's not exactly happy. When she realizes what's at stake, no amount of hairspray, jelly shoes, or lace gloves is going to get her out of a confrontation that threatens not only her home but possibly her very life. Every Death You Take Every year Mel does a routine bad-mojo cleaning for a lovely woman who lives in town. This time she comes out to the car, she finds a new, unknown ghost sitting in the back seat. Mel and Becker will have to find the answers - and the dead girl's body - before it's too late to help this lost maiden-ghost in distress. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

The first story, Desperately Seeking Salvage introduces us to Mel, Becker, and some of the older town folk who are being turned into nude statues by a ghost who has evil plans. This one put a smile on my face with the crazy antics of trying to get the statues dressed so as to not scar anyone for life.
Don’t Dream It’s Rover is next, and we are introduced to Mumford when Becker, who is the local veterinarian, finds him lethargic on the side of the road and brings him back to Mel’s. While Mel is not a huge fan at first (concerned that all the ghosts in the junkyard might not be nice to him), she comes around after a near death experience.
Every Death You Take has a bit of a true crime podcast feel to it, and is a bit sad. But with Mel, Becker, Mumford and more of the ghosts helping out, there’s a sweet ending… or as sweet as can be when it comes to death.
If you’re in the mood for a fun, fast read filled with great characters and a unique concept, I highly recommend Simon’s series, which also includes a Volume Two with three more short stories. ( )
