A young girl claims to be princess, but to make sure she is telling the truth, the queen places a pea under twenty mattresses, and says only a true princess would be able to feel it. The illustrations are silly and fun, just like the story. This story can be read before a unit about royalty, to examine some of the odd things they were actually required to do. Students can also write their own fairy tales to share with the class. Lastly, students can make text to text connections, regarding other fairy tales they have read about princesses and compare/contrast the different story lines. The Princess and the Pea by Hans Christian Anderson follows the traditional story of the Princess and the pea. To test if she is a true princess the queen put a pea under twenty mattresses and twenty featherbeds. In the morning the princess had not slept because she could feel the pea. This is how they know she is a true princess. The story is written with short sentences. Also, the author is very descriptive. The style of writing makes the story very easy to follow. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
