If you liked the first three Finlay books I expect you will like this one too. The second remains the strongest for me for many reasons, not least of which is that it had the fewest holes, coincidences, inconsistencies, etc for me to overlook. I don't mind overlooking some of these things because I love Finlay and Vero and Nick, and even Steven has grown on me and I love spending time with them so I let things pass if they might mess with the fun. This book had more of these holes, etc and more reasons to feel miffed on Nick's behalf than the other books, but I still had a ton of fun with it. I will be there for book 4! If you read any book in Elle Cosimano’s Finlay Donovan’s series you expect a certain level of hijinks and insanity. This time things are beyond crazy but hilarious nonetheless. Hitmen are getting squashed, Vero’s boyfriend is missing and in real trouble, Findlay’s ex-husband is messing things up as usual, her children border on out of control, her mother has left her father, Finlay’s love interest is snuggled a little too close on this escapade and her sister is getting deeper involved with a semi-colleague. Toss it all together and throw it up in the air and watch it land in a casino, a seedy motel, a bathtub containing decomposing bodies - oh yeah it is a wild ride and Finlay Donovan is in the middle of it all. Fun, fast, down and dirty and more fun. Where are we going next Finlay? Can’t wait. Many thanks to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for a copy. This picks up immediately after Finlay and Vero return from the citizen's police academy adventure. They decide to head to Atlantic City immediately to try to erase Vero's debt and find a fancy car. The road is never easy, and they are joined by Finlay's ex, the kids and even Finlay's mom, under the guise of a girls' weekend with Steven watching the kids. It is another fun fun read as the two somehow manage to have time to sleuth without being found out. This series hits so many fun notes of the genre, all while delivering humor even better than the early Plum books. this was fun for me this time around. i don't know if it really is appreciably better than the last couple or if it had just been a little while since i'd read them or that i was just in the mood for it. but it was just the palate cleanser i was looking for. it was definitely still a caper and over the top but maybe because she acknowledges that along the way, it didn't bother me this time. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

This is the fourth book in the series, so obviously don't start here. For fans of the series, this one is just as strong, and wraps up several long-running plot elements. However, the epilogue makes it clear that a fifth book will be forthcoming. ( )
