KnitOvation Stitch Dictionary 150+ Modern Colorwork Knitting Motifs by Andrea Rangel Always looking for new stitches to use in my charity afghans. The file I received is just a sample of one pattern in the book. The graphics are very high to transfer to a computer. There are chapters devoted to an intro to color knitting, stitches, patterns and extra. Ends with alpha index and stitch and row counts. There are charted squares of two color knitting available. Stitches are discussed along with needle size, gauge and notions needed. How to assemble the item made has notes also. There are charts and also color and needle symbols. Not for a very beginner, in my opinion as there are some things that are left out of this sample portion. Love maple tree leaf the best but also love daisies. Each patterns starts with a title, finished sizes, supplies and what the model was used to make. Ends with about the author and more motifs in various colors. Will be an excellent resource reference book to have for your library. Love maple tree leaf the best but also love daisies. Each patterns starts with a title, finished sizes, supplies and what the model was used to make. Received this review copy from Penguin Random House, Interweave via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion. #KnitOvationStitchDictionary #NetGalley. This was really short. And I’m not sure if that’s because this is just a sample or if this is the full book. The book had one full pattern, which was for a hat at the end. Most of the book is a sample of repeating patterns, and why I think this might not be the full book is some of the patterns in the beginning, or not actually in the book. For example, on the table of contents page, it shows ducks and horses and dragons and that’s not in the pages presented. I am assuming that this is not correct, and that this is only chapter 1, because even the chapters don’t have page numbers, and based entirely just on the table of contents most of this book is missing. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I've recently knitted half a dozen stocking caps, and because the circumference for the adult size is an unusual number of stitches (multiple of 17) I ended up making four with the same border pattern. It was just too difficult to find a colourwork pattern with a 17 stitch repeat when you don't know or care whether you're looking for a sock, a sweater, or a Christmas ornament. Knitovation has four patterns with 17 stitch repeat (yeah, it's still unusual) and it's easy to find them in the index. The patterns are indexed by number of stitches, number of rows and motif names A-Z. There is also a subject index.
This book really fills a niche and I didn't hesitate for a moment before buying it. It will make a vast improvement in one very small, specific area of my life (the part that spends time on Ravelry trying to figure out the stitch repeat onumber f various patterns). If I learn a bit about colourwork technique from its well illustrated and explained technical section, that will be a bonus. ( )
