#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey delivers a sexy, hilarious standalone holiday rom-com about the adult children of two former rock stars who team up to convince their estranged mothers to play a Christmas Eve concert...

Melody Gallard may be the daughter of music royalty, but her world is far from glamorous. She spends her days restoring old books and avoiding the limelight (one awkward tabloid photo was enough, thanks). But when a producer offers her a lot of money to reunite her mother's band on live tv, Mel begins to wonder if it's time to rattle the cage, shake up her quiet life... and see him again. The only other person who could wrangle the rock and roll divas.

Beat Dawkins, the lead singer's son, is Melody's opposite??the camera loves him, he could charm the pants off anyone, and his mom is not a potential cult leader. Still, they might have been best friends if not for the legendary feud that broke up the band. When they met as teenagers, Mel felt an instant spark, but it's nothing compared to the wild, intense attraction that builds as they embark on a madcap mission to convince their mothers to perform one last show.

While dealing with rock star shenanigans, a 24-hour film crew, brawling Santas, and mobs of adoring fans, Mel starts to step out of her comfort zone. With Beat by her side, cheering her on, she's never felt so understood. But Christmas Eve is fast approaching, and a decades-old scandal is poised to wreck everything??the Steel Birds reunion, their relationships with their mothers, and their newfound love… (altro)

High 2/Low 3, in spite of some really high 5ish points. The intensity of the sex scenes, usually enjoyable in Bailey’s books, was instead bordering on farcical. The resolution was unforgivably rushed. Waste of a great premise. ( )

This is the first book I've read by Tessa Bailey and for my tastes I like it enough however I will start with the things I did not like.
1. The cover is very deceiving because this book in it's entirely did not give any Christmas vibes at all so if you are expecting a cozy Christmas read I will spoil this much for you that don't bother. Though to be fair I did not go into this with the expectation of this being a Christmas read as it was recommended to me and I already had an idea of what to expect, I just want to put it out there in case anyone is interested in reading it thinking its a Christmas Romance.
2. My toxic trait is I like corny/cheesy lines however the line "There is no Beat without a Melody" Tessa darling this just made me roll my eyes, it was just horrible, so sorry but I could have done without that.
Overall I like the book, it's a fast read, it was fun and had some cute moments and nothing to deep to stress me out. I will not dissect this book because for one I am not a writer, I'm not a critic, I am simply someone that likes to read books for fun and likes to recommend the ones I enjoy.

I definitely would recommend this to anyone who loves to read silly, cheesy, romance that doesn't need to have so much depth to it but has some pretty good spice to it. I laughed, rolled my eyes but most of all had fun reading this. ❤️ ( )

Wreck the Halls is my local book club's pick for this month. If it hadn't been, I probably would not have read it, as I remember glancing at the blurb on the back when the book came out and not being interested enough in the story to buy it.

The book is about the adult children of a famous rock duo that split up decades ago. A reality TV producer conscripts them into convincing their mothers to agree to a Christmas Eve reunion performance with the promise of a good chunk of money for each of them if they succeed. Enter the internal and external antagonists that exist for *subplot purposes* and you have an entirely predictable, lighthearted, yet too-spicy-for-Hallmark romance.

Personally, I felt like the book alternated between being amusing and being a little too easy to put down. Though the characters were decently developed (though not without their inconsistencies), I found myself rolling my eyes at them at times, and the plot left me feeling bored more than once. There were a few scenes that came across as utterly ridiculous or unrealistic, and that left me feeling like the story itself wasn't believable. If I hadn't wanted to finish reading it before my book club meeting tomorrow, I likely would have DNF'd the book.

Overall, it just ended up not being a good fit for me. As my first Tessa Bailey book, it didn't leave me wanting to try any of her others.

A little holiday romance that is less holiday. The main characters are named Melody and Beat. The two of them are children of former Rock Legends. Melody’s mom is Trina who lives in upstate New York, is a hippie nudist and is often in trouble with the local police. Beat’s mom is Octavia a NYC socialite who lives a glamorous life and is very philanthropic. Melody and Beat met when they were 16 during an interview. Now at age 30 a reality show producer reaches out to Beat to do a show about getting those two rock legends together after 30 years for a Christmas Eve Concert.
Beat thinks this is great especially since if it is successful he will get a 7 figure payout. Beat also needs to get Melody to do the show. He ends up contacting her telling her about the idea and the amount of money she can also make. Melody agrees to do this as she wants to become financially independent from her mother.
But the big question is can these two get the two former best friends who are now enemies back together. No one but Octavia and Trina know what caused the break up and it will be interesting to see if all come out and they do the show.

As the show goes live it becomes and instant hit and the fans go wild for Beat and Melody. What the fans see that Beat and Melody see is the mutual attraction that shows up on camera. Beat and Melody finally do realized there is an attraction between the two of them. Both Melody and Beat are so dysfunctional it will be interesting to see if they can manage their growing relationionship and their mother’s dysfunctional friendships. The adventures they have during this time is turbulent and just plain funny. Eventually things do work out. This was a fun read.

I really tried. I got about 100 pages in and just wasn't feeling it. All the internal dialogue with the characters I found to be distracting. I got to the point that they agreed to do the live show and they were at the gala, and I just couldn't anymore. The female character I found was too hard on herself about "not being funny" and now everyone found her funny. I don't know. It just didn't engage me and I couldn't continue reading. There's too many books in this world to continue with this. This was my first Tessa Bailey. I've heard good things about her, so I want to check out some of her others and hopefully it's better than this one. ( )
