Nightwing, Vol. 3: The Battle for Blüdhaven’s Heart collects issues 92-96 from the fourth volume of Nightwing’s self-titled series written by Tom Taylor with pencils by Bruno Redondo and Geraldo Borges, inks by Caio Filipe and Wade von Grawbadger, colors by Adriano Lucas, and letters by Wes Abbott. The story picks up following Blockbuster’s attempt to kill Dick Grayson after he announced the Alfred Pennyworth Foundation, using money left to him by Alfred, that will fund a community center called Haven. Blockbuster thrives on the inequality in Blüdhaven and wants to end Dick’s plans. His efforts continually come to naught as he does not realize that Dick is secretly Nightwing. Further, Dick’s half-sister is the current mayor, Melinda Zucco, and provides inside information to Dick. Meanwhile, the new villain Heartless wants Dick’s heart for himself and intends to prevent Blockbuster from beating him to the prize.

Like its predecessors, this volume does a great job focusing on Dick Grayson as well as his friends and loved ones. Tom Taylor is continuing to craft a fantastic Nightwing story while Bruno Redondo and Geraldo Borges perfectly depict his words with a wonderful sense of expressiveness and motion. Caio Filipe and Wade von Grawbadger’s inks and Adriano Lucas’ colors pop as they create a style and palate that defines this series. Great for Nightwing fans! ( )
