This is a really good book for children who are going through the moving process. Jamela isn't happy about moving so she falls asleep in a box and her parents look everywhere for her. They eventually find her and move to their new house. Once there, Jamela begins to like the house and realizes that it really isn't that bad. I can personally relate since I moved a few times during my childhood. ( ) Jamela is not happy about moving. During the hustle and frustration of packing, she falls asleep in a box. Her family begins to look for her everywhere.Once found, her family celebrates and continues on with their move. Jamela begins to like the new house, seeing and hearing things that remind her of home. I think the story is one that a lot of children can relate to, especially if they are about to move. The illustrations are bright and lively, just like the tone of the book. You also get a sense of community as everyone in the town is looking for Jamela. Overall, this is a cute, light read that I could see a beginner reader enjoy. Where's Tamela is about a young African American girl who just found out her mother got a new job, but they need to move. She is very upset about this and wants to stay at her current house. She ends up falling asleep in a box while packing and the whole family goes on a search to find her. Eventually, they do and all is well and she is fine with moving. This book did not have much in terms of substance, there was a problem and no real reason for the answer to the problem and kind of felt bland to me. This book begins with Jamela’s mother expressing her excitement about her new job and moving into a new home. While she is excited, Jamela is very upset about it even though her Gogo is moving with her as well. Jamela already loves where she lives and is afraid of change. At night as she thinks about thinks about her future, Jamela looks a big, bright star in the sky. The next day, Jamela gets extremely tired after packing and falls asleep in a box. Two men who are referred to as Greasy Hands and Lucky help load all of the boxes into a moving truck. When everything is packed and ready to go, Jamela is nowhere to be found. Her mother and Gogo look everywhere in a panic. Finally, Jamela wakes up and pops out of a box that was packed in the moving truck. Everyone is relieved and the moving continues. When Jamela arrives at her new home she realizes that this big change is not as awful as she thought it would be. When she goes to sleep, she notices the same star that she stared at, at her previous home. This book is one that many readers can relate to. Change is a scary thing, but it is something everyone must accept. I think Niki Daly exemplifies how change can be a good thing throughout this book. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
