What I think you should know:
Twin Murder Mix-Up by Sami A. Abrams is a Love Inspired Romantic Suspense. While it is a standalone novel it does involve characters that were in Abrams’s Buried Cold Case Secrets, I highly recommend reading it prior to reading this as it is a great book and helps you understand the team dynamic.

What you might need to know:
Amy struggles with self esteem.
Keith has guilt over a life changing decision.

What I think about this book:
This book started off with a bang! When we meet Amy we find out that her Identical twin was murdered in a case of mistaken identity and she is now running for her life. Keith, an Anderson county deputy who was in the previous book, grew up best friends with Amy, but had lost contact with her. When she runs out of options she reaches out to him for help. Their relationship at times was very frustrating to read about , to me both of the main characters had some flaws and guilt that they needed to see a counselor for. I really preferred the mystery/ Suspense portion of this book to the Romance , it was very fast paced and left me guessing what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next book !

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. ( )

“…could she let go of her pride and hurt, and let him into her heart?”

Twin Murder Mix-Up is the second book I’ve read by Sami Abrams. I enjoyed this one as much as the first and am adding Abrams to my list of go-to authors for exciting, non-gruesome, romantic suspense.

In the wrong place at the wrong time, Amy Baker witnesses a murder. Trying to eliminate her, the murderer mistakenly kills Amy’s identical twin. When childhood friend Keith Young originally refuses to help, then reluctantly gets involved, can the two get past their own issues and the past itself?

One bad choice leads to another, until Keith cannot face himself or his former best friend. It doesn’t help that Amy’s attitude can be toxic. “if her jabs were firebombs, he’d be burned to a crisp.” I think Keith is very courageous to take on Amy’s protection, when he knows he will likely get burned. I wanted to judge Keith for being so slow to come clean with Amy and for not responding to her for so long. But honestly, Abrams nailed human nature here. Unfortunately, Keith doesn’t realize his biggest roadblock to his relationship with Amy is himself.

Amy has her own issues. Besides the past, she cannot get over her own well-hidden inferiority complex. This type of mental block can sabotage a relationship all by itself, no help needed from other sources! Needless to say, I found Abrams’s characters very realistic.

My fave character? This would have to be Keith’s dad, Ian, if we don’t count the baby. Ian possesses a quiet confidence and an ability to confront truthfully without being abrasive. While he is Keith’s dad, he is also able to be a great surrogate dad for Amy, yet without coming between the two.

I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

Notable Quotables:

“…could she let go of her pride and hurt, and let him into her heart?”

Why hadn’t he stuffed his shame in a box and reached out to her?

Regret wrapped around him like a blanket.

She might be angry at Keith, but there was no one she wanted more to keep them safe. If only she could fully trust him. ( )

This book was filled with lots of action and lots of twists and turns. I loved Amy and Keith. I loved the romance between Amy and Keith even though it took them a while to actually admit it. This story kept my interest from beginning to the end. I loved that the story shows that we all make mistakes and can learn from them. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )

A case of a mistaken identity murder, old friends reunited, a baby, and more bring this story Twin Murder Mix-Up to life. I loved getting to know Amy Baker, her nephew turned son, Detective Keith Young, and his friends and co-workers.

Am, a professional photographer, finds herself in danger after she photographs a murder. Her experience causes the death of her twin sister. As a result, Amy becomes the permanent guardian of her nephew. This book takes twists and turns and contains suspense that keeps you reading.

I found myself unable to put this book down. I loved reuniting with characters from a previous Love Inspired book that allowed me to read more of their stories. The camaraderie between Keith and his fellow officers and even his boss impressed me. I also loved seeing the interactions between Keith, and his father, and eventually the son Keith did not know he had.

So if you enjoy Christian suspense novels, check out this story for yourself. I definitely recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. ( )

“Amy Baker maneuvered through the afternoon traffic, whispering a prayer for the millionth time that the person for her sister’s death hadn’t discovered his mistake: he’d killed the wrong twin.”

There is something about twins, particularly identical twins, that has always fascinated me and has sometimes made me wish that I was one. As Sami Abrams demonstrates in “Twin Murder Mix-Up,” however, there are obviously a few disadvantages, too! Most cases of mistaken identity end up being of little consequence, but in this case, the stakes are much higher when Amy Baker inadvertently photographs a murder in progress. Like Amy, readers find themselves thrust into the middle of an intense cat-and-mouse game with no answers and everything to lose. Detective Keith Young, her childhood best friend who dropped out of her life a year ago, is the only person she can reach out to, but wounds run deep and add to the challenges.

Featuring one of the characters from “Buried Cold Case Secrets,” “Twin Murder Mix-Up” can easily be read as a standalone. Abrams focuses more on the characters and their relationships than on the suspense element per se, highlighting how a person’s actions and communication (or lack thereof) have direct consequences. As much as the main characters frustrated me at times, I realized that it is important for Christian fiction to portray realistic characters that have flaws and have made mistakes. These are the types of characters that people can relate to the most, and even more importantly, they are the types of characters that might speak to nonbelievers. Amy and Keith do grow throughout the story as they encounter situations that test their faith and their perspectives, and Abrams explores the nearly-ubiquitous problems of lacking self-confidence and being unable to forgive oneself. When we come to the end of ourselves, we realize that God has been in control all along, and that when we accept Him as Savior and Lord, all things do work together for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Celebrate Lit and was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own. ( )
