A sweet story about a first-time flower girl who becomes a bit too enthusiastic with her prep for the big day.

Lucy has just discovered that her Aunt Jenny is getting married and wants her to be the flower girl. When her mom tells her what an important role it is in the wedding, Lucy is determined to give it her best shot. She ransacks her wardrobe to find her best dress, uses stuff from her bedroom to accessorise, and finds a sand bucket to collect the flowers. Where will she get the flowers from? Will Lucy’s mom be happy at her daughter’s attempts to be the perfect flower girl?

The story is quite sweet and shows the innocence of children. I am sure most little flower girls are as excited as Lucy was when they are told of their role in the wedding.
The book is written in rhythmic prose, but I wasn’t a big fan of the rhymes. They have a varying meter, which creates hurdles in a smooth read-aloud. The vocabulary level was quite apt considering the target age group.

The illustrations are average. Not bad, but not as stunning as they should have been for such a story. Lucy is really cute though, and her gravity-defying ponytails are adorable.

Overall, a good book that will work nicely for wannabe flower girls so that they can prepare better for their roles.

This is a super cute book especially for little flower girls to be. I liked the rhymes they worked well and were not cheesy, like in some children books. My daughter loved this book. She now knows what a flower girl is and wants to be one! Such a cute book. ( )
