The art is really creative and fun, and my kids love books where the narrator and reader feud over how the story should go. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This story is a bit of a Dad Joke, but I am a dad, and I like joking. It is mostly a dialogue between the story's narrator and the person who is the audience. The only thing slightly off-putting is both parts of the dialogue are here. This leaves no room for the actual audience to participate in the story. Their hald of the script is already here. This book could do better as just the reactions of the narrator. "Blah blah... the end." *wait for reaction*... "What, was that too short? Ok, fine... blah. The End." *reaction* "What do you mean that was even shorter?" etc... I ENJOYED reading it to myself. I often truncated storybooks to my kids making them get into a tizzy of "WAIT!!! That's not it!" My kids are older now, but if this was a couple years ago, I'd cut out the "red text" (audience reactions) and see where my kids would have taken this story. This would work for a lot of this book (except some very specific questions the "audience" part asks). I give this book THREE STARS for being another good audience participation book. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I received this book from Library Thing in exchange for an honest review. This book is a remaking of the three little pigs. The author writes a very short story and the reader wants a longer one. This repeats throughout the book with each story longer and with more pigs than the previous. I love the colors and illustrations. This is a counting book with the pigs on an abacus. Readers can count the pigs in each story. On many pages the reader can also identify specifics about the pigs such as which one is wearing a specific letter, who has an umbrella or skateboard. Young readers can use the book to learn counting, colors, and letters. I was taken aback, though, by the last line of every story but the last: The wolf ate all the pigs. No pigs survived until the end of the book. I enjoyed the book and can imagine reading it to my nieces and nephews, discussing the illustrations and counting. Looking at the pigs to identify differences. I think young children will discover new things in the illustrations for many readings. I found this to be a silly book and while it did make me chuckle because I have been faced with the task of making up a story, there is nothing to this book. I had other book lovers in my family read this. My husband and three of my kids said it was one of the worst books they have ever read. There was no plot, so much more could have been done with the idea they said. I agree with that. Perhaps a conversation about a bedtime story wasn’t the best path for this concept. It doesn’t earn a spot on our shelves, but I would probably check it out of a library and read it once or twice. Bottom line, not absolutely worthless or harmful, just silly without a purpose. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
