In typical Seymour Simon fashion, this book explores the sun, from the nuclear explosions at its core to the boiling gases that forms the surface with clear text and illustrations, and amazing full color photographs. I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked that the writing was very engaging and easy to read about and I can definitely say that it was very informative. I never knew that the sun is actually a medium sized star, but it only looks so big because it is so close to us rather than the others. However, I didn't like the point of view of the story, since to me even though the book had some interesting facts it did seem a bit dry and it did get a little boring after awhile of reading it. It was just so many facts that it didn't seem as interesting. This children's informational book was actually very interesting to read! Although it was a nonfiction informational book, the author did a great job at making the book fun to read. He did this by adding many large pictures instead of all words. This allowed readers to understand the material through pictures rather than text. This is especially important for young readers in order to maintain their attention throughout a book. Overall, I thought this book was very interesting to read and learn about the sun! The central message is the sun. Summary: In this book, Seymour Simon informed his readers about the sun. He included many pictures. He taught his readers what the sun looks like, where's it's located, size compared to other planets, how the sun was created, and what the sun consists of. The sun is a children's educational book about the sun, how it works, and how it came to be. The book is written in a language easily understood by children. It also depicts the size in a way a normal person might understand. I found this book enjoyable, though i could see there being an issue when it comes to the creation of the sun because not all parents want big bang theory taught in schools. I would use this book to begin a lesson on the solar system since the sun is the center. It would also be a good read if you were taking the students on a trip to a astrolab. I rated The Sun a two because is a good informational text. There is words that explain what the sun is and there are breathtaking pictures to go along with the text. This would be a good book for people who were interested in learning about the sun and all that it does for us and the universe. Would be a good book to introduce an astronomy lesson. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
