This chapter book tells the story of Wednesday Wilson, who has a little brother and two mothers. Children in similar situation appreciated this representation of a family. Wednesday Wilson wants to be an entrepreneur, which interests a lot of our students too. I have been reading a chapter a week to a grade two and a grade three class. They have been listening intently and enjoying the pictures. Everyday events like eating breakfast that is not liked, teasing a sibling, angering a parent, helping a sibling who is worrying about presenting a project about a non-typical family, anticipating a seat change, trying to do business with younger students in an ethical way, relating to a grandparent of a different culture, etc. make up the chapters. The author, who has a mixed race family, based the characters on her own children. Wednesday Wilson has long hair and wears a tie. Until I read the author’s note, I thought he was a he, but he is actually a she. Reviewed by Katharina (Tina) Hausen Edited by Thien Sa Hoang nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"Wednesday Wilson is in a major funk, and the only thing that can make this day worse is that funks are contagious ... and hers is rubbing off on her brother, Mister. When Wednesday discovers that the true cause of Mister's funk is having to present his family tree at the school assembly, she devises a plan to get Mister a Worry Marble that will fix all his problems. And then a crowd of kids at recess also want Worry Marbles to fix their problems, and Wednesday finds herself back in business! There's just one problem left to fix ... can Wednesday and her friends find enough marbles in time to keep their new business running? This second book in the Wednesday Wilson series is full of funny illustrations and footnotes to keep emerging readers engaged to the very last page."-- Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
