Fiction. Literature. HTML:"If you are someone who gravitates toward emotional gut punch reads, allow me to introduce you to this spectacular debut..."??BuzzFeed
Here are three things you should know about my husband:
  • He was the great love of my life despite his penchant for going incommunicado.
  • He was, as far as I and everyone else could tell, perfectly happy. Which is significant because...
  • On New Year's Eve, he killed himself.
  • And here is one thing you should know about me:
  • I found him.
  • Bonus fact: No. I am not okay.
Someday, Maybe is a stunning, witty debut novel about a young woman's emotional journey through unimaginable loss, pulled along by her tight-knit Nigerian family, a posse of friends, and the love and laughter she shared with her husband.
"Incisive and witty. I couldn't put it down."??Lolá Ákínmádé ?kerström, internationally bestselling author of In Every Mirror She's Black
"A masterfully woven exposition on love and loss. Nwabineli is magic with words."??Bolu Babalola, internationally bestselling author of Honey and Spice
"An excellent choice for book clubs and for readers who enjoy thought-provoking, deeply emotional fiction."??Booklist

Eve finds her husband Quentin or Q dead by suicide on New Years Eve. She feels guilty since she did not see it coming and was deeply in love with him, her husband of 10 years and companion for 13 years. He came from a very prominent and rich Great Britain family, the Morrows. His mother Aspen, was very unhappy that Quentin married Eve, so made both of their lives pretty miserable. This is the story of Eve's emotional life after his death and her journey back to happiness, Someday, Maybe. Although Eve was inconsolable after Q's death, she made everything harder on herself and her family, not to mention her unborn child. She does not come across as a sympathetic character. ( )

A husband's suicide is the catalyst for grief rawly exposed and minutely disected. The characters are authentic and portray the strengths and weaknesses of relationships within families, among friends and workmates and sometimes how the three collide. ( )

This was definitely a tough read/listen. Probably not for people going through a really rough patch of their own. This book is about the paralyzing grief of losing your loved one to suicide. At times, it's so difficult to listen to. However, the author does an amazing job showing how our main character's Nigerian family support her as well as her friends.

The words that made me pick up this book in the first place.

" here are three things you should know about my husband:

He was the great love of my life despite his penchant for going incommunicado,
He was, as far as I and everyone else could tell, perfectly happy. Which is significant because…
On New Year’s Eve, he killed himself.
And here is one thing you should know about me:

    I found him."

Not for everyone but an excellent book. ( )
