It is very readable--although so much of it was so recent that it seemed like a kind of waste of time to be reading it. I agreed quite a bit with the authors' viewpoint, which was anti-Nixon. The authors were a little harder on Hubert than I'd be, but not really unfair. In previous years I've read Ted White's books but it is said that his book on the 1968 campaign is kind to Nixon, so I think I'll skip reading it, having read this book on the campaign. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

The 1968 struggle for the Presidency of the United States... McCarthy's entrance into the race and Johnson's exit, the tragically brief flare of Robert Kennedy's effort, the fluctuating fortunes of Rockefeller, Wallace, Reagan, Humphrey, and Nixon, the moments of decision in Miami Beach and in Chicago, the post-convention campaigns, and then the incredibly close election itself... An American Melodrama tells the complete story. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
