A Dark And Snowy Night is the sixteenth book in the Seaside Knitters Society Mystery series by Sally Goldenbaum. Nell and Ben meet with Oliver Bishop, whom they haven’t seen in twelve years, at his wife Maddie’s funeral. Maddie was Nell’s BFF when they were all in college. Oliver’s young wife, Lidia, a renowned chef in her own right, is also in town. Lidia is in town to prepare the food for Sea Harbor Mayor Beatrice Scaglia’s Christmas party. Cass and Danny Brandly have a baby, Joey, who is the perfect nanny for Molly Flanigan. Molly is very responsible for Joey and is a great cook. One night, there is a peeping-tom next door to Cass’s home. The following day Molly is gone, with no explanation. A snowstorm started the night of the Christmas party, but not enough to keep anyone away from the festivities. The food was beyond belief, but it was well received. Nell went to talk with Lidia, but she was in a heated discussion with Dirk Evan, a staff member. Later, Nell looks for Lidia again, and she finds her, but someone has murdered her. Once again, the Seaside Knitters will have a murder to investigate. They will find no shortage of suspects. Oliver will come under their scrutiny, as well Dirk. Lidia had riled a few locals when she tried to get support to buy Don and Rachel’s Ocean Edge Restaurant. Lidia wants to tear it down and build a glass monstrosity. It’s always enjoyable to visit Sea Harbor. The book is well-written and told. The author does a beautiful job describing the town and its residents. Most of the regular characters are back, well-developed, believable, and enjoyable. The book moves at an even pace. The book also includes instructions for a broken rib cowl and a delicious-sounding recipe. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. What a joy to read a great cozy Christmas story in late summer. The ladies of Sea Harbor are winding down to enjoy the holidays with family and friends , planing their knitting circles and classes but all have agreed to attend the mayors annual holiday party. The party takes a deadly turn when a famous visiting chef and wife of Nell and Ben Endicott's college friend is murdered. The ladies join forces to find out who would bring murder to their beautiful town. I enjoyed the book and very glad that NetGalley allowed me to read an early release. I now have a new cozy mystery to read for the fall and winter. family-dynamics, friendship, amateur-sleuth, women-sleuths, cozy-mystery, knitting, murder, murder-investigation**** Murder among friends and acquaintances. The characters are so engaging that I feel that I know them. A gathering of many to celebrate takes a turn when one of their number is found dead in the snow. Let the sleuthing begin! Well done and with much misdirection, and red herrings to add to the suspense and a plot twist that comes out of nowhere! Loved it! I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
"This year, the Seaside Knitters have a sackful of obligations in addition to their usual Christmas preparations. Izzy is so overloaded with knitting classes that she hires an extra salesperson, but the new addition has trouble fitting into the yarn shop's holiday spirit. Cass, juggling the stresses of running her lobster fishery, has finally found a nanny for her active toddler. Molly Flanigan seems practically perfect in every way--until she suddenly disappears, taking Cass's beloved rescue mutt with her ... Meanwhile, the holidays are kicking off in style at Mayor Beatrice Scaglia's holiday party, where a well-dressed crowd admires the mayor's sumptuous new home and the celebrity chef catering the event. An additional treat for Ben and Nell Endicott at the festive affair is reconnecting with a dear college friend, Oliver Bishop. But it's not just reunions and the appetizers that are to-die-for. Before the party-goers can toast the beginning of Sea Harbor's festive season, the chef--and young wife of the Endicotts' old Harvard friend--is found dead beneath the mistletoe. Izzy, Birdie, Nell, and Cass must uncover the pattern to these mysteries to remove suspicion from those they love, bring a murderer to justice--and keep Sea Harbor's holiday magic from vanishing into the chill winter air ..."-- Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I don't knit, nor do I do any other crafts but I love a great cozy mystery and this one certainly is that. Lots of wonderful characters I want to learn more about, along with a surprisingly intricate mystery that kept me guessing.
Next, I'll be starting at the beginning, with the first Seaside Knitters mystery, Death by by Cashmere. I can't believe I missed the Seaside Knitters all these years. I really enjoyed this one and have a lot of books to look forward to.
Highly recommended to cozy fans!!
