So much of the book was Perseus' story--- how he got to Medusa and killed her. Medusa's origin stories are so interesting, and all the art and films made throughout history that include her are really cool. I wish the author had spent more time on her story and place in social mythology instead of spending all that time on Perseus. ( ) Medusa is quite informative in that it lists many of the myths that surround the Gorgons and Medusa. In the Bronze Age women held a lot of sway, and over time their power was taken away by men. This is thought to be part of the story of Perseus slaying Medusa, and chapter two covers this myth. This book also talks about art and modern versions of Medusa, including how she was animated and marketed in Clash of the Titans. This book has excellent representations of the many faces of Medusa in art throughout history. The glossary is useful, as well as the three pages devoted to exploring Medusa listing helpful books, videos, and websites. I thought this book did an outstanding job with the many myths of Medusa, and linking her to modern telling's. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
