When Dexter Appleton's best friend Huck commits suicide, it damn near kills Dex too. Huck was a bull rider with a crazy life, and leaves behind a big house, and a ton of unanswered questions. But Dex is just a simple guy, just a Texas redneck trying to scrape together a life, and he can't handle much more before he breaks. Cyrus Hughes is a professional Dom. He's shocked to learn that Huck is gone, he's met with Huck twice a month for years, and didn't expected to miss a client so much. When he heads to Texas to pay his respects, he instinctively feels protective of Huck's anxious and unlikely best friend, Dexter. The attraction between them grows, even long distance, until Cyrus insists he needs Dex with him in New York. Clinging to his last bit of hope, Dex takes a leap of faith and moves what little he still owns in with Cyrus, hoping to find his place is in the world, and learn how to love a lifestyle Dom. Their path is full of trial and error, adjusting expectations and discovering how they fit together. Oh wow what an emotional journey this read is!
Firstly Huck is an asshole.and we don't even know him and why he did what he did!

Dex is adorable and I just wanted to hug him and make it all better BUT he has his Cyrus who does that for him!

The scene in the kink shop is just beautiful and just wow!

I like how we meet Les from the bar (series title) but they are just side characters in this first book.

This was a wonderful read, with wonderful characters and just wholeheartedly deserves 5 stars! (

Nearly 600 pages packed full of love and acceptance and personal growth and friendship...a beautifully done story. Dex and Cyrus, (Cy) fit together like a hand in a pair of well-worn, favorite gloves. In spite of being a hugely long book, it was NEVER boring or respective, it just took us along on the journey allowing us to see how Dex grew and became more confident and with Cyrus's patience and help began to learn that he was so much "more" than he had ever been allowed to believe. Cyrus was patient and truly loved him from the start...all he had to do was teach Dex to love himself...not a simple task...but what a journey! I wanted to hug Dex throughout most of the book:) This was the first book, but I think there should have been one before it that would have let us meet and understand Huck and what motivated him to do the things he did and why his rodeo life that he obviously loved, led to his death. I got the feeling that Dex and Cyrus, nor anyone else, really "knew " him at all...and Dex was supposedly, his best friend. The secondary characters in the story are vividly portrayed and helped to bring a life of its own to the story. Dex is a baker that makes mostly holiday type cookies and many times takes on way too much...and has way much heart, allowing his ambition and kindness to do him more harm than good. If Cyrus ever gets tired of Dex, he can send him my way with his cookie pans:) I have the other 2 books in the series...why can't really good series like this one, have more than 3 books!!!????. I can't wait to learn the stories of some of Dex and Cyrus' friends and maybe we'll get to visit Les's Bar more often. (
