Chase Forster and Leslie Baynton met through an online forum and have been exchanging e-mails for about a year when Chase asked her to marry him. Chase was going to be the guardian of his niece and nephew, and he wanted "a female role model" for his niece.

I tried to like this book; I'm a fan of marriage-of-convenience stories and this one had a very interesting plot, but the author didn't handle the execution well.

1. Although Chase and Leslie have built a comfortable friendship through their e-mails, their romance never got a chance to develop since all their focus was in taking care of two teenagers. In the end, their HEA wasn't convincing at all.

2. Leslie's rocky relationship with her older sister went unresolved while I didn't think the author should have left it as she did. (On the other hand, I loved how their nephew's problem wasn't completely resolved. It was much realistic that way.)

3. The author threw in a few details that would have been better if they were left out. For instance, does Leslie want a baby or not? Seemed like the author made a big deal about it, when Leslie and Chase were discussing the terms of their marriage, but after that there was no mention about it. What was the point of that?

Maybe if the author had a longer word count to work with, this book might have been a little better. Anyway, I suggest you skip this book. It's too under-developed to be a pleasant read. ( )
